Frequently Asked Questions
Is life casting the same as fingerprint jewellery and does all the jewellery look the same?
There are two elements to what we do; fine silver print jewellery and 3 Dimensional LIfe Casting.
Our jewellery is completely handcrafted from fine silver and features a print from YOUR loved one. In essence, we create a piece of wearable/usable jewellery that looks as if your loved one has left their print on the silver.
Our Life Casting involves a visit to us at the studio to dip the body part being cast, into a mousse and us then making you a 3D representation of what was cast. You may have seen casting of baby feet and hands before.
Every piece of our jewellery looks different to the next one as it is hand-made and is completely bespoke featuring YOUR loved one's print.
Is everything hand-made?
Absolutely, we do use a kiln to bake our metal clay but otherwise it is all made by hand. Each piece of jewellery is made with care and love. The polishing process takes a long time but is absolutely worth it.
Our life casts are all also crafted by hand.
Why should I choose you?
This is a really good question. There are certainly lots of people offering similar services to ours. So why choose us over them?
The most important reason is that we care. We really do. We love what we do and we love making pieces and art that people will really treasure.
Because we care we have a really great relationship with our clients. We are always there to help.
As for our products, you can see the love that goes into every piece. Our prints are detailed and we make the print the star of every piece of jewellery. The pieces are a gorgeous, substantial thickness. Our clients come back to us time and time again and that is praise indeed.
Do you sell gift vouchers?
We do sell gift vouchers, they come in £25 increments and you can buy as many as you would like. They can be redeemed against our fine silver print jewellery and also our 3D Life Casting. They come beautifully presented with a hand-embossed card and envelope so they are ready to give. We can also send directly to your loved one if you are running out of time.
Is there a priority service for quicker delivery?
We are afraid not and there is a good reason for that. That would suggest we consider another person's order to be more important than yours! You shouldn't have to pay extra to receive your piece. We make and send our pieces in as short a time as possible. Should you have a time issue please do give us a call so we can have a chat. All jewellery can take up to three weeks but the majority of pieces are sent out much quicker. If you have a deadline please do contact us and we will see what we can do.
Are you a franchise?
Nope, definitely not. We don't believe anyone would make our jewellery to our standard and our standards are very important to us. We want you to know that whatever you order, the same care and love will be put into every piece. We are so proud of what we do, we wouldn't let anyone else near our jewellery and art.
Can I take prints for my jewellery at home?
You certainly can take prints at home. There are different way to do this depending on what sort of print you are wanting to take. Have a look at our 'How to take the perfect print' section.
My child is older now, is their hand too big for print jewellery?
That is just one of the beautiful things about our beautiful silver print jewellery, no-one's hand/foot etc is ever too big. We weave our magic on all prints and part of that is shrinking the image so any hand; be it tiny or enormous, is perfect for our hand-made jewellery.
What prints can I take from my baby for jewellery?
Little babies have very smooth little fingertips with very little definition. There will be exceptions but we often find it is best to use a hand or foot print from a baby under 12 months and sometimes up to two years old. You can always try to get a print from a younger child of course. For advice on taking a print please see our 'How to take a perfect print' section. If you take a fingerprint from a young baby the result would be a little coffee bean shaped dip in your jewellery rather than a pattern of swirls and whorls, but this does celebrate the tiny size of a baby's finger.
Can you use prints from media other than paper?
We do our best with any print we are given. We understand a person or pet may live a distance away or may not be with us any longer so we will always try our very best with what you have. We would suggest calling us first or emailing to ask us what we can do.
Will you keep my prints so I can order more jewellery?
We will keep those precious prints for twelve months so you can contact us to order more beautiful jewellery. You will need to tell us all of your details when you order. Give us a little call before hand so we can discuss your prints.
Is it just cats and dogs you can take a print from or can you take it from other animals too?
We can use the prints of any animal as long as they are nice and clear. If in doubt, give us a call or email so we can have a chat about the best way to procure that all important print.
Can I have a print on either side of a charm?
When you are ordering, you will see which items can be double sided. Unfortunately putting a print on both sides just isn't possible. There may be tiny exceptions for example with flat fingerprints but we tend to pop words and numbers on the rear of items. Please do email or call if you have any questions.
How do I look after my fine silver jewellery?
Your beautiful new jewellery will need you to be gentle with it. Like all precious metal jewellery it is subject to wear and tear, clasps can come undone if not treated well. Silver can tarnish so keep a nice silver cloth to hand to shine it. Keep it away from strong chemicals and perfumes. Use the old way of thinking with your jewellery 'First off and last on'.
How do I buy bespoke jewellery from you?
The answer to that is nice and easy. You can call us on 01992 465472, you can email us on or you can browse our For Him or For Her sections and buy on-line. Whatever your choice we will be available to discuss your piece throughout.
Is life casting safe and what age does my child have to be?
The beauty of our life casting is that it can be performed at any age from new born to very elderly indeed. The procedure is nice and safe. It involves a part of the body being submerged in a mousse or covered in a mousse for a couple of minutes. It can be a messy process but we keep you as clean as possible. Make sure you wear older clothes and for babies, layers work well.
How do I go about getting a life cast?
Just give us a call or an email and we can make an appointment for you to come along to us. Our number is 01992 465472 and our email is
How do I look after my cast and how long does one take to make?
Treat them like the piece of art they are. Keep the box framed casts out of direct sunlight and away from moisture and extreme cold. For free standing casts, keep them out of the reach of little hands and paws. Keep the casts away from moisture, direct sunlight and cold.
Are all the images on this website your own work?
Absolutely! We wouldn't want to use anyone else's images when what we do is brilliant. We don't allow other people to use our images and would be very upset if someone did. Everything on here has been hand-crafted by us.
